First, I would like to say how sorry I am that you recently lost your mother. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Mothers are truly special persons and I vividly remember the day I lost my mother and that's over 18 years ago.
Secondly, I want to praise and encourage you on your bike ride. You have undertaken a challenging task but I know that you will succeed. Go for it Rick! You can do it!
I will be keeping track of your progress.

Comment on The Big Ring

I've got a triple with the granny gear. Have been trying to wean myself off of it. It's just that occasional crazy steep hill to contend with that keeps me using it. Hoping to get out tomorrow and then Saturday is the State Police ride.

Comment on Mud on the brain

Hi Rick,
I can relate to trying to find time to ride. I did 27mi on Sat and 30 on Sunday a few weeks ago and my back hasn't been the same since. Sad when your mind says you're under 20 and your body tells you you're over 60. What's that about? We need to keep in mind the old fable about the tortise and the hare.

Comment on Mud on the brain

Hi Rick and all. I'm doing the ride also. Very excited about this upcoming adventure. Rick, sorry about your Mom. Riding is a great way to clear your head. I'm looking forward to meeting you and the others soon. Hope that you can find the time that you need to train. I've been able to get out Sat, Sun, and Thursdays. Kind of hard to get out with 2 young ones at home and a wife in grad school. Just so you know, I'm very ok with us maintaining a slower average on the ride. I'm training as hard as I can but I've only been riding a year. I'm not the fastest guy out there.

Comment on Mud on the brain

Welcome to the blogosphere Rick.

Comment on Mud on the brain

Pastor Rick, keep on training, it's good for you! :)
